Peppermint and chocolate has always been one of my favourite combos. As a chocolate bar or hot beverage, I love it! It makes a great after meal pick up and I think great at any time of the day! So when I get to make my own chocolates, this is what I go for!
I remember as a child, always having a mini york peppermint patty and I loved it so much. I wanted them all the time!
As an adult, my chocolate choices have changed a little. I look for dark chocolate, not so sweet, still in flavours that I love: (mint and caramel), but finding out that I could make my own? 🤯Mind-Blowing!
Chocolate bars you buy in the store have so many additives to keep them shelf stable. Things you body doesn't know what they are or what to do with them. They increase your insulin levels and block up your liver. They are no good for you!
For instance, Snickers is the most popular chocolate bar in the US, this is its ingredient list. Where do I even start? Corn syrup disrupts your insulin levels and can lead to Type 2 diabetes, insulin resistence and weight gain. Palm oil is a destructive environmental nightmare. Soy lecithin is used as a stabilizer and can lead to hormone disruptions.
So why not make your own?
With Valentine's day is coming up and whether or not you celebrate, these little tidbits are the best to have in your fridge.
Made with only 4 ingredients, these freezer fat bombs can be whipped up in mins, but do need an hour to set.
Peppermint Chocolate Fat Bombs
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
1/4 cup greens powder
1/4 cup Xylitol
10 drops of peppermint oil
1. Melt the coconut oil
2. Add in the greens powder and xylitol
3. Add in the peppermint oil
4. Pour into muffin lined tins
5. Freeze for at least 1 hour
It's really easy to change this up as well! Here are some substitutions for the greens powder:
- Nut Butters
- Freeze-dried fruits/Vegetables
Just make sure you adjust the Xylitol amounts if you are changing the greens powder!
